The town has 1850 residents, and it is located at 1428 metres above sea level in the beautiful Val Gardena (Grödner Valley).

St. Ulrich and Wolkenstein are the two other towns in Val Gardena.

During the Winter it is a skiers' paradise, and in Summer hiking and biking are all the rage.
